The owners of Club Plus Internet - Marilyn and Richard - would like to share some of the things they did to make Christmas Magic at their house.
We officially declared December -
Children's Month
and our activities were "family time" Christmas fun. We were always sure to invite our children's friends whose parents were very busy and couldn't enjoy Christmas magic.
Christmastime is a time of sharing and our children shared their magical Christmas spirit.
We felt that this magic is really strong for a short period of time in our lives. In our children's cases for only 10 years!! They had encountered many non-believers and a few of them finally joined
our belief in Santa.....
Yes....There really is a Santa....We know him very, very well !!! After all...WE would never buy all those presents....Would we ??....Defintely not.....WE have better things to spend our money on....than all those toys...you already have enough !!!....
We said things like......We believe
in Santa and so should you....if you want Santa to come to your house ....and we REALLY WANT HIM TO COME TO OUR HOUSE !!! ....Dont' you remember when Santa......Magical Belief Spell does its magic again !!!
1. December 1 - We would start our chocolate Advent Calendar. Every night before the teeth were brushed they got to open a door and eat a chocolat. We would also do the countdown to Christmas Day!!
2. We would always make some Christmas decorations like paper links, string popcorn for the birds outside, etc. We got really into this and made whole Christmas scenes which we will tell you about next year in our new pages titled Home Made Decorations. This time can be a lot of fun if done with Christmas music and discussing Christmas lists as the children learn different skills.
3. We would encourage the children to write their own Christmas stories. You can make them into cute little Christmas Souvenir books which can be re-read each year.
4. Everyone would get dressed in our Christmas best and we would go and have our picture taken. These are displayed every Christmas.
5. Get the children involved in decorating the tree to Christmas music.
6. Our Christmas tree was magical. It had a village with houses, sleighs, skating rink, train, mice, teddy bears, and even some of their favorite very small toys. We would then make a list of the "harder to find" items and the children would lie in front of the tree and try to find them as we played Christmas music....of course.
7. Gingerbread houses - We went all out here. We would make 3 each year. We made one for each child to bring into school at their Christmas Party. We made sure that every child got a candy cane that was stuffed into the house. The other one was kept at home and we would have our children invite their friends over to break the house. We also made extra gingerbread men, santas or Christmas trees that they could decorate themselves that day.
8. Make Hot Chocolate, lie near the tree by candlelight with Christmas music playing and tell Christmas stories and memories. This is a good time to get out photo's of Christmas past or dreams of Christmas Day.
9. Start a "Family Christmas Baking Day". Invite the whole family over and do the season's baking together in a party like atmosphere while the children learn the tricks of the trade in a fun way.
10. Build a snowman together and pretend it's alive....Hot Chocolate and Frosty the Snowman music a must!
11. Invite friends over and decorate your front yard. Once again Christmas music to add atmosphere and lots of Hot Chocolate!
12. Help you children make special cards and presents for their friends and have your children wrap them themselves.
13. Pack-up old toys in good condition and some food and bring them to your favotire Christmas Charity. Be sure to tell Santa so that he can leave a "special" present with a note Christmas morning!
14. Buy a box or two of candy canes and give them to their friends on the school bus or the class. You can make this even more special buy adding wiggly eyes, a small red furry ball for the nose and red pipe cleaner for the antlers....voilą...Rudolph!!
15. Organize a Gift Exchange Party with their friends. Tell them to bring presents either home made or from the dollar store. Play games like getting them to find the items under the tree (#6 above) , draw a picture of Rudolph and have them pin the nose on him, decorate gingerbread and this is a good time to break that house.
16. Get dressed in your Christmas best and go to an adult restaurant followed by a Christmas Movie.
17. Go for a sleigh ride.....print out the words to the Christmas songs and have a sing-a-long. We allowed snowfights, pushing off the sleigh and lots of tickling and stories of Christmas's magic....watch you may even see Santa out there. Invite the whole family and lots of friends...the more the merrier. Follow this by Hot Chocolate and snacks...cookies...what else!!
18. Take your child to see Santa at a pre-arranged time. Santa will be able to say "something special" to your children about THEIR lives.
19. Close to Christmas...go for a car ride and look at all the decorations. Be sure to bring your imagination!!! Here again we have seen Santa in the sky in his sleigh on his way home to the North Pole for a late supper!! Follow this by Hot Chocolate and your favorite Christmas video...ours was Miracle on 32nd...the original version...it has more magic!!!
20. Santa always made an early visit to our house. The children would hear jingling bells at the other end of the house and when they went to investigate....wow....an early present and when we rushed to the window someone would just catch a glimpse of Santa!!
21. A few years # 20 was just after a snowfall....guess what...we seen Santa's footprints in the newly fallen snow....wow!!!
22. Wrap smaller presents in bigger and bigger boxes....looks like more presents and more to open!!
Christmas Eve
23. While tracking Santa on either the tv, radio or on the net...
24. Have your children write a Thank-you letter to Santa and be sure that Santa leaves a signed Thank-you letter for them too for the wonderful....
milk, cookies and carrots for Santa and his reindeers. The children really like to see the half-eaten remains Christmas morning.
25. In one of the presents..Santa can arrange a Christmas Morning Present Hunt.....he can leave hints all over...even under the very pillow they were sleeping on.....HAVE FUN!!!!
AND ONCE AGAIN
MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!
