Configuration of Outlook Express for Club Plus members

It is recommended to print this message (if you can) and to keep it in case you need to re-configure your e-mail program off-line.

The following instructions walk you through configuration of Outlook Express to work with your Club Plus Internet account. While these instructions use the Windows 95/98/NT version, Microsoft has done an amazing job keeping things about the same across the Windows 95/98/NT, Windows 3.1x, and Macintosh operating systems.

  1. Select Accounts... from the Tools menu.
  2. To set up your Club Plus email account on your computer. Click Add and select Mail...
  3. Enter your real name as you wish it to appear along with your email address in messages (e.g. Mr. Mel Gibson) in the Display name field. Click Next.
  4. In the E-mail address field, enter your Club Plus email address. This should all be lower-case. For example, user "mgibson" would enter mgibson@clubplus.net. Click Next.


  5. Select POP3 from the My incoming mail server is a _____ server pop-up menu.
    Enter pop.clubplus.net in the Incoming mail (POP3) server field.
    Enter mail.clubplus.net in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field.
    Click Next.
  6. Select Log on using: POP account (the first choice, as shown below).

    Enter your Club Plus username in the POP account name field. For example, user "mgibson" would enter mgibson (NOT mgibson@clubplus.net).

    Enter your Club Plus password in the Password field exactly as it appears on your account configuration sheet -- CASE DOES MATTER! No Capitals

    Click Next.
  7. Type a name for your email account in the Internet mail account name field (e.g. pop.clubplus.net).

    Click Next.
  8. Select Use an existing dial-up connection and select your Club Plus Dial-up Networking profile.

    Click Next.
  9. Click Finish.


  10. Next, we'll create Club Plus news account on your computer. Click Add in the account window and select News...

  11. Enter your real name as you wish it to appear along with your email address in messages (e.g. Mr. Mel Gibson) in the Display name field. Click Next.

  12. In the E-mail address field, enter your Club Plus email address. This should all be lower-case. For example, user "mgibson" would enter mgibson@clubplus.net. Click Next.

  13. Enter news.clubplus.net in the News (NNTP) server field.
    Make sure My news server requires me to log on is NOT checked.

  14. Type a name for your email account in the Internet news account name field (e.g. news.clubplus.net).
    Click Next.

  15. Select Connect using my phone line.
    Click Next.

  16. Select Use an existing dial-up connection and select your Club Plus Dial-up Networking profile.
    Click Next.

  17. Click Finish.


That's it; you're ready to start using email and Internet newsgroups.
