Mail configuration of Internet Mail for Club Plus members

It is recommended to print this message (if you can) and to keep it in case you need to re-configure your e-mail program off-line.

Configuring Internet Mail can happen in one of two ways. If you have never used the program, the first time it starts you will be prompted for the settings. If you have previously set up Internet Mail (either for Club Plus or another ISP), you will not see this screen.

To get started, first launch Internet Mail. You can do this by going to Start->Programs->Internet Mail. Then click on the appropriate option:

Using the Configuration Wizard

  1. Click on the Next button to proceed

  2. Where is says Name enter the name you want people to see when they receive e-mail from you. If you use e-mail mostly for business, then you may want to use your real name. If you use e-mail for writing notes to friends, then a nickname will work fine.
  3. For Email Address, enter your e-mail address here at Club Plus. Your Club Plus e-mail address is your login followed by @clubplus.net. For our example, if your login name is joeuser, your email address would be joeuser@clubplus.net.
  4. Click on the Next button

  5. For Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: enter pop.clubplus.net
  6. For Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: enter mail.clubplus.net
  7. Click on the Next button

  8. Select Logon using:
  9. Enter your login name in the Account Name: section. In the example we have used joeuser.
  10. Enter your Club Plus Internet Password in the Password: field. This is the password you use to connect to Club Plus. Stars will show for each character you type.
  11. Click on the Next button

  12. In most cases, you will select I use a modem to access my e-mail. If you are not sure what to use, chances are that you will be using a modem.
  13. In the Use the following Dial-Up Networking connection:, select the connection you have created for Club Plus. In most cases, this connection will be called Club Plus and you will be able to select it from the list.

Don't worry about Properties, or Add. You will not need to change any of those settings.

  14. Click on the Next button

  15. That should be everything. Click on the Finish button to complete the setup.

Configuring via the "Options" Window

If you are reconfiguring MS Internet Mail or for some reason the Setup Wizard does not start up, with Internet Mail running click on Mail on the menu bar and select Options then select the Server tab.

  1. Where is says Name, enter the name you want people to see when they receive e-mail from you. If you use e-mail mostly for business, then you may want to use your real name. If you use e-mail for writing notes to friends, then a nickname will work fine.
  2. You can put anything in Organization:. This is usually where you would put a business, school, club, or other organization name. It does not really apply to personnal accounts.
  3. For Email Address, enter your e-mail address here at Club Plus. Your Club Plus e-mail address is your login followed by @clubplus.net. For our example, if your login name is joeuser, your email address would be joeuser@clubplus.net.
